Our constitution, as flawed as it may be, is claimed to be the final and only protection we have from tyranny. However, and as surprising as it would be to most people, the US constitution is a piece of paper that has an eternal flame under it and it’s fireproofing material continues to degrade nearing the point of total failure. Just my humble uneducated opinion.
I have always viewed politics and Washington DC as the east coast Hollywood. Over the years we have been exposed to only a handful of “good” actors, producers, directors, etc from both west and east coast “Tinsel Towns”. The great “performers” seem to be more and more difficult to find or maybe they’re choosing to not be found. Of course we know the significant difference is when the east coast players “act” on their stage, it can be very detrimental to their audience, “the people”.
Now, add the current regime. My comparison would be similar to adding “professional wrestling” (WWE or whatever acronym they refer to themselves) into the Hollywood mix. The first time you see it, you can’t help but watch – those with intellect catch on (some quicker than others) and move on. Others (and I won’t say those withOUT intellect, as some very smart people choose quite poorly at times) are enamored, indoctrinated and infatuated with this form of entertainment. However, and the crux as far as I’m concerned, bashing either and defending one or the other, in my opinion anyway, is hypocrisy – after all both are nearly the same thing just with different colored clothes and scripts to follow. (Sounds like what we refer to as democracy to me so far).
Now, as mentioned earlier, the significant difference would be when east coast Hollywood takes the stage – decisions can be made for the audience (we the people) which can prove positive, negative or in some cases neutral. By comparison, to their partners on the other coast, hero/villain winner/loser good cop/bad cop and so on. So, in essence, we the people have been programmed by the west coast, while the east coast had quietly been architecturally framing up how to unify the two with just enough acceptance, thus not enough resistance. And much of this done through a relatively young technology, when compared to say the automobile, a television. My grandfathers comment when he’d walk by and see us kids watching TV, “you kids aren’t careful, that idiot box will ruin your brains.” I recall as a child, wondering why then us same kids were “shhhhhh’d” from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm each night while Walter Cronkite filled my grandfathers mind with ……..”wisdom.”
Alas, just a simple opinion of a person from a small town that resides in between both coasts and does his level best to avoid the storm surge from either side each and everyday.
